Writ petition challenges Murad's JS membership
A Supreme Court lawyer today filed a writ petition with the High Court, challenging the legality of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) membership of former state minister for information and broadcasting, Dr Murad Hassan.
Advocate Md Eunus Ali Akond submitted the petition as a public interest litigation to the HC, saying that Murad Hassan has violated his oath as a JS member by making offensive comments.
In the petition, the lawyer prayed to the High Court to pass necessary directives for conducting a judicial inquiry into his comments.
Eurus Ali Akond told The Daily Star that the High Court may hold hearing on the petition on next Sunday.
Murad Hassan resigned from the post of state minister for information and broadcasting as Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked him to quit after his comments on women went viral on social media and online platforms.
