ACC sues 5 including police OC over corruption allegations in Ctg
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three separate cases against three land office employees of Chattogram district administration, a highway police official, and his wife for their separate alleged involvements in amassing wealth illegally.
Of those, two cases have been filed against Mir Nazrul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barauila Highway Police Station in Chattogram and his wife, Shahana Sultana, in connection with amassing wealth of Tk 99.85 lakh from unknown source of income.
Lutful Kabir Chandon, deputy director of ACC integrated Office-1 filed the case this evening, reports our Chattogram staff correspondent.
According to the case statement, Nazrul Islam concealed information of Tk 38 lakh in his wealth statement which was amassed from unknown sources while his wife also hid information of Tk 61.80 lakh in her wealth statements which were accumulated through her husband's illegal income.
The case was filed under ACC Act and Money Laundering Prevention Act, said Chandan.
Meanwhile, three land office employees of Chattogram district administration were also sued for embezzling Tk 27.57 lakh through forgery.
The accused are Md Shahadat Hossain, land assistant officer of Kattoli Land office under Agrabad circle, Md Emdad Hossain, office assistant of South Pahartali Land office, and Md Aminul Islam, office assistant (temporary) of the same office.
ACC's Chattogram Integrated office-1 Assistant Director (AD) Abu Sayeed filed the case this evening accusing the three staff of land offices with the ACC Chattogram office for embezzling 27.57 lakh of Land development tax through 14 receipts from 2017 to 2020.
According to the case statement, the trio, in collaboration, embezzled the money which was paid for Land development tax purposes to the bank through 14 receipts.
