2 more dengue patients die, 189 hospitalised in 24 hours
Two more dengue patients died while 189 were hospitalised in 24 hours, till 8:00am today. Of them, 34 cases were from outside Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
With the new cases, a total of 4,122 patients have been diagnosed with dengue in October so far out of a total 22,319 infected this year. Of the total infected, at least 3,155 are from outside Dhaka.
The number of infected was 7,841 in September, 7,698 in August, 2,286 in July, 272 in June, 43 in May while the rest were diagnosed with the mosquito-borne disease between January and April, according to the DGHS.
The death toll from dengue this year stands at 86 in the country so far, the DGHS data revealed. All the deaths were reported between July and October.
Of them, 12 people died in July, 34 in August, 23 in September and 17 in October so far.
Among the deaths, 79 were reported in Dhaka division, two each in Chattogram and Khulna divisions, and one each in Rajshahi, Barishal, and Mymensingh divisions.
At least 669 patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Dhaka, 169 are being treated outside the capital, while the rest have been released following recovery, the DGHS data shows.
